LIFE VERSES | Find God's Promises | Convo #2 in "Finding Scriptures That Shape Your Story"
What do you cling to when life feels like it's spiraling out of control? The answer should be God's promises.
Tosha Williams from Family Disciple Me explores how Scripture becomes our anchor during life's storms through the "Life Verses" series, focusing on Psalm 145:13. This verse reveals two powerful truths: God's kingdom is eternal, and He is completely trustworthy in every promise He makes.
With biblical scholars estimating between 3,500-7,500 divine promises throughout Scripture, believers have access to an incredible treasury of assurances. Whether you need promises about God's presence during loneliness, His provision during scarcity, His peace during anxiety, or His power working through your weakness, Scripture contains exactly what you need for every situation.
Making these promises visible transforms how they impact our daily lives. Place them on your refrigerator, desk, car dashboard, or create artistic renderings to display throughout your home. These visual reminders help God's Word leap off the page and actively shape your story. But don't stop there – share these promises through email signatures, encouraging texts, or spoken words over those who need hope.
The invitation is clear: seek God through His Word, discover His promises, cling to them during difficult times, and generously share them with others. Download the Family Disciple Me app (SOON TO BE RELEASED!!!!) to access the conversation guide for this episode, then help someone else find the Scriptures that will shape their story for years to come.

Hi, friend, as we get started, can I ask you something? When your life feels like it's gone completely off track, what are you clinging to? When everything about you is swirling like a tornado, what are you holding on to? For me, the answer is always God's promises. The thing about being in His Word day after day, on a regular basis, is that we're reminded of His promises right when we need them the most, whether it's in our personal lives or in our families, with our kids, with our grandkids, in our work. God's promises hold us steady, but in order to cling to them, we first have to find them, and that's what this conversation is all about finding God's promises. Hi, friend, my name is Tasha Williams and, on behalf of the Family Disciple Me ministry, I just want to say welcome. And in this conversation we're continuing through a guide of conversations that we're calling Life Verses, finding Scriptures that Shape your Story.
Speaker 0:And today, as we specifically talk about finding God's promises, we want to look at a verse of scripture from Psalm 145, verse 13. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. This verse reminds us of at least two incredible truths. The first is that God's kingdom never ends. He always has been and he always will be, and so that leads us to the second incredible truth, and that is that he is trustworthy in all he promises. He didn't begin something that he's not going to be able to finish. His promises stand for all time, and his word is so full of those promises. Scholars estimate that there's between about 3,500 to about 7,500 promises that God makes in his word, promises that God makes in His Word. Even if we go on the low end of estimate that there's only 3,500 promises from God in His Word to us, wow, that is still incredible. 3,500 promises and, what's more, however many there are.
Speaker 0:Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 1, verse 20, that no matter how many promises God has made, they are yes in Christ. God keeps His promises, every single one of them. So think about that. The Creator of the universe has spoken promises in his word for you, not empty platitudes, but trustworthy commitments that he intends to fulfill. Psalm 145 tells us he's faithful in all he does.
Speaker 0:So when you open your Bible and I open mine when we're going through searching for scriptures that shape our story well, we're uncovering living promises for our lives today. So what is one promise of God that you've been clinging to recently? How are you meditating on that? How has it encouraged you, how is it shaping your story, your days, even right now? I know that this matters because life throws challenges at us, doesn't it?
Speaker 0:Sometimes we need a promise about God's presence. Sometimes we need a promise about His provision or His peace. Sometimes we need a promise about His power to work in us and through us, and so it helps as we mark all of His promises that we find, so that we can return to them again and again. We can put these promises where we'll see them along life's way. We can put them on our fridge or at our desk. We can even write them on an index card and put them on our car dashboard. If we have children, we can print off that verse and let them color it. We can hang it up. We can paint these verses. We can design these verses in graphic design programs. We can paint these verses. We can design these verses in graphic design programs. We can doodle these verses.
Speaker 0:Whatever it is that God has gifted each of us to do, we can make His Word visible in our world to be reminded of His promises and as we do, we're going to find that those scriptures, they leap off the page of His Word and they begin to shape our story. But we don't want to just let those affect our own personal story. God's promises are meant to be shared. You know, I've been thinking about ways to do that, and I love it when people send me emails where they've added a verse of scripture there with their email signature. Come to think of it. I need to do that, and I love it when people send me emails where they've added a verse of scripture there with their email signature. Come to think of it. I need to do that.
Speaker 0:We can also text a scripture, a promise from God, to a friend who's struggling. We can speak one of God's promises over somebody who needs encouragement. We can talk about these things with people that God's entrusted to us, to our children, to our friends, to our spouse or whomever it is. When we do these things with people that God's entrusted to us, to our children, to our friends, to our spouse or whomever it is, when we do these things, we're passing on the hope of God's promises to someone else. So with this, I invite you to open up the Family Disciple Me app. If you're not already there, go to the app and you will find the conversation guide that goes along with this episode.
Speaker 0:I encourage you to spend time in God's Word about this verse Psalm 145, verse 13. First, seek Him about finding His promises and then, as you do that, as you spend time in His Word and you seek Him, then turn around and speak Him and share those truths with someone else. Help others in your life, begin to find scriptures that shape their stories along life's way. You know, friends, god has filled His Word with these promises, these promises for all of us. He has promised that he's faithful and trustworthy in all that he does. So my challenge for you, for me, for all of us, is to lean into His Word, find these promises, cling to them, share them, seek Him and then speak Him. And, as you surround yourself with God's promises, go with Him, friend, meet with God and, as you do, make Him known, be encouraged. I'll see you in the next episode as we continue in this series of life verses, finding scriptures that shape our stories.
